“Budehaven is a true community school”. These are the opening words of our latest Ofsted Inspection Report from May 2024, reflecting all we stand for as a school at the heart of its community. Budehaven Community School has existed since 1973, having been formed from the former Bude Grammar School and Bude-Stratton Secondary Modern School. Our school is unique, and our approach to all we do is built upon our school ethos’ foundation of Care. We employ a relational approach to interactions with all members of our school community, and work with each other to achieve the best possible outcomes whilst ensuring our young people grow up to be responsible, confident, successful young adults.
We are very fortunate to have maintained our Sixth Form provision, which, every year, supports many young people to achieve some of the best A Level and other Level 3 qualifications in the country, with many going on to access some of the top Universities in the UK, and beyond.
Many of our pupils come from a generation of families that have previously attended Budehaven Community School, and they are proud to be our pupils. Ofsted remarked that our school is warm and welcoming, and that staff are aspirational for what pupils have the potential to achieve. As a result, our pupils respond well to this encouragement. In their response to Ofsted’s Parent View survey, many parents used the word ‘thriving’ to describe their child’s experience at our school – this made us very proud indeed.
Whether you are a prospective pupil, Sixth Form Student, or member of staff looking for the next step in your career, please come and visit us. We welcome all visitors, and our vibrant, interesting and interested pupils are always willing to show you around our school. We look forward to meeting you soon!
